Stupid Smart (BRO)


Goddammit! I'm sick and tired of this terrible service from Smart BRO (the broadband service of Smart Communications, Inc.). My connection speed right now is an excruciatingly slow 23.2 kbps. I checked my speed ten times tonight-- all of them register less than 50 kbps (dial-up gives me 56 kbps). WHAT THE FUCK?!?

I subscribed to Smart BRO last October, availing myself of Plan 999 where I pay P999/month for broadband service. They say they offer speeds up to 384 kbps, but ever since I signed up I never got any speed faster than 300 kbps. On a good day (which is rare) I can get 250 kbps, but my usual speed would be around 90 to 150 kbps. I've considerably lowered my standards for bandwidth speed, grudgingly being satisfied with acceptable speed instead of fast speed (my broadband speed in San Francisco is 1 Mbps, btw). And by acceptable I mean I can surf the web with relative ease; I still have to wait for YouTube vids to completely load before I watch them. But starting this year the service really deteriorated WAY below decent, starting in January. In February and March it went back to semi-acceptable speed, but today it's the worst.

Now, I've called Smart BRO multiple times to complain about my insanely slow bandwidth speed-- so many times that I already know what the customer service rep will tell me from their list of prefabricated responses, always going through the motions of checking my connection to the base station for whatever problem I tell them. They are trained to "understand" customers' complaints and to give an apology, with all calls eventually ending in a referral to their technical department. Twice they even sent technicians here to check my connection to the base station, BUT THE PROBLEM ISN'T MY CONNECTION BUT MY SPEED!!! I connect to the base station just fine, IT'S YOUR SERVICE THAT IS SO FUCKING SLOW.

And what really irritates me is that it's company policy NOT to let customers talk to the managers (or whoever is responsible for this crap). I've asked for the contact info of Smart BRO managers many times, but they say they can't give it to me. So I'm left with pouring my frustrations at powerless customer service reps who really can't do anything about my problem, while the managers and bosses have no accountability. These Smart BRO managers and bosses choose to be holed up in their offices, oblivious to the fact that THEY ARE FUCKING UP AT THEIR JOBS. If I'm Manny V. Pangilinan, I'll subscribe to Plan 999 to experience Smart BRO's service first hand, then I'll FIRE ALL THEIR ASSES.

I'm really frustrated at Smart BRO's terrible service. I've called them so many times and nothing has improved. The customer service reps try to be helpful, but there really isn't much they can do. I think Smart BRO just got so many customers that they can't serve then properly-- the old congestion problems. But that isn't any excuse for terrible service. Smart BRO's service has really been a terrible dissapointment for me. I have never been satisfied with their service, and after I lower my standards they actually do even worse. Smart BRO is a sorry excuse for an ISP.

When people sign up with Smart BRO, the contract stipulates that the subscription period is for a minimum of one year. If I can get out of this contract without having to go through a lawsuit, I will.

in the philippines, its sooooo slow that it even takes 1 - 2 hours to finish a 4.5 MB download! how fucked up is that?? im switching to globelines broadband dude... you should too if i were you...

This Internet service is a piece of shit! I call this Smart BROKEN.You people advertise this ISP is Broadband???!!! This crap is slower than a 56kb modem!!!!!!. To you other people who's having a hard time downloading stuff with this lame ISP, try downloading Download Accelerator Plus(DAP) boosts my download speed from 5kb to at least 30-40kb. Using this fucking ISP is like torture. I hope those SOB's managing this crap choke on their own urine. To SMART, I'm paying 999PhP($25) and you give me an ISP that are suitable only for people living in caves. F*ck*ng ISP.

You're right about Customer Representatives not passing on calls to their managers. I experienced this multiple times when I called regarding a single complaint. Having worked for the BPO industry as a customer service manager myself, I know how representatives would just wait for the caller to hang up due to the long wait time. Sad to say, some managers would make clients wait on the line until they hang up - only because they are avoiding escalated calls. In addition, some representatives do not transfer escalated calls to their managers because it is considered negative (their quality scores go down if the customer asks for a supervisor, especially if the agent did not handle the call well).

Don't be surprised if you're not able to talk to managers at Smart Bro's call center. I don't think they are proud working for call centers themselves. Most of their reps can't even speak proper English!

FUCKING IT SHOULD BE STUPIDBRO! we pay 999 php per month and all i got is 22.0 kbps! I wanted to complain but they keep disconnecting me. I rather have pldt or globelines but this 1 year contract of theirs is limiting me. Smart telecommunication or should i say "bakka!" telecommunications go to hell with your turtle services.

the fastest download speed i can get with smart bro is only 19kbps!!! da hell with that and the fastest connection is only 90-93kbps doesn't even get to a hundred, what happened to the "promised" 384kbps???

i will have my smart bro disconnected next month...i will not pay there termination fee...because in the first place they didn't even deliver the service that they suppose to deliver...the service that im PAYING FOR...so, why would i pay the fee??

Somebody, please, PLEASE, sue Smart. They're making the lives of every subscriber friggin' hell. I use this subscriber for work purposes and i've been ranting and raving ever since. Of course i could always change but i just want to finish my 1-year lock-in period because i am not financially capable of having two internet providers.

I've been reading a lot of bad feedback about Smartbro, yet, it seems that these haven't reached the upper management. The complaints seemed to fall on deaf ears.

my smart bro connection is not slow, i can DL with 40kbps.

but, i still say this ISP is a fucking idiot, i get disconnected 934756739252435 times a day for 15 minutes - 2hours.

when i use the smart bro quick fix, it says the base station is having a maintenance.

what kind of idiot company does maintenance 100 times a day?

this ISP will not give you good service, it will only give you headache and steal your money.

Are you thinking about using Smartbro for your internet connection in the Philippines? Then think again.
I live in Polanco, Zambo Norte near to Dipolog and have used Smartbro for about 3 years now, during that time I cant have got more than an 18 month of what you would call a service. If you call or go to customer service they will tell you that they will call you within 24hour to sort out your problem. After 7 days I once again go to the office of Smartbro Dipolog to ask why they didn’t call and of course no explanation is given and told 48 hour ago that they would once again call within 24hour. I am now wondering if in fact they employ wooden manikins with a pre recorded tape in place of people.
If you want speed then I suggest you look somewhere else. Yes I do have an internet connection after they came out some weeks ago to replace a broken canopy. It only took 4 weeks of no service to get this replaced, but still they expected the payment for the non connection.
Wow it worked and the speed was reasonable for 2 weeks, then it went slower and slower until now. Now it times out to get an email and you can even open a webpage and take a shower while waiting up to 30 minutes for a page to open. Smartbro wifi? Its more a case of Smartbro slow band.
While doing several online speed tests it ranged for 6kbps to 27 kbps with a rare burst in the 40s.
While the rest of the world are now evolving to using fiber optic internet with downloads of full feature films in minutes, here we have to put up with speeds slower than that of dial up and a customer service and technical help almost non existent.
Before you say change providers, I live in an area with no telephone service line, remember this is the Philippines. I pay for what they call Smartbro wifi broadband service and get slower than the slowest dial up.
If you are thinking of running a business on this service be very careful if it involves using a merchant banker, because if you don’t supply the goods they will of course re credit the customer and levy a charge against you the innocent person who was unable to receive the order due to a lack of a connection to Smartbro. I have been paying for a totally useless service at times giving about 0% to 50% service, and to add insult to injury I had to pay a merchant banker for a non supply of goods because I didn’t receive the order due to the lack of a usable internet connection.
Do consumers have rights, I think yes or at least they are meant to have. If you want a reliable service for email and need to use Smartbro, there is another option to purchase paper and envelope and post it as I think it has to be faster than waiting 34 minutes to download a 328kb file, so think yourself lucky to download 4.5MB in under 2 hours
Maybe within the next 7 days they will take the trouble to actually call to ask me to unplug my connection and wait while plugging it back in to try to prove its my computer even though I will tell them it works on my friends connection perfect and in Manila at my brothers connection, though I feel they don’t like hearing this and pretend they didn’t hear it. About 6 month ago an engineer tried to tell me the computer needed reformatting, it was a brand new computer and only didn’t work on this connection. Smartbro can do without engineers like that giving damaging advice, this sort of advice will only give them a very very very bad name
I am ok with Smartbro when it works, but sadly it doesn’t work well so often. I will now take some tablets for my stressed headache and see if I can download some of the 124 pop3 emails. I managed 9 within the last 2 hours which is not bad today, at least its better than 0 I have been able to get during the last 2 weeks. Still waiting that call within 24hour from 9 days ago and no usable service for 2 weeks!

I've pretty much given up on this sorry excuse for a broadband provider. In the past month, I've called them up more than 15 times (I'm pretty sure of this because I pointedly asked the CSR the last time how many times I've complained to them for the month, and she wasn't even ashamed to answer "around 15 or so"). Sad to say, I get the same answer: "Your base station is undergoing some technical difficulties. Rest assured that we are trying to fix this as fast as we can and please monitor your connection for 24 hours." Oh my God! If they keep on having technical difficulties that they can't fix after months of trying (or are they really trying?), why don't they just fucking shut down their service and stop mooching off of us subscribers! And SMART, please just stop telling us that we can apply for rebates! You can't refund us the time we lost while using your slow service!

Somebody really should sue this company!

I couldn't finish my downloads even on a 3MB file size! shit fuck! WORST ISP EVAAAAA!!!! Sometimes, when there is a connection my downloads always become corrupted because of a very slow internet speed.Now, I have a connection then, in just a split of a second BOOM!! no connection then, a split sec I have a connection then, split of sec NO connection AGAIN shit It's like blinking lights!!!!!!THE CS just told me to do an ipconfig at command prompt,disable/enable connection, and unplugged/replugged the adapter then reboot SHIT! I already know how to do these and already done these so many fucking times. So much for your help! fuck!
Technicians always come over and what? told me to buy another pole to extend the router's height. They asked for money to buy additional pole.I gave them.They installed then WOW my connection is already acceptable than my previous one BUT!!! 3 days later... BOOM! the same stupid connection AGAIN WTF!?!?! the technicians just get my money for their service fee and additional fee for the pole but my connection went back to it's horrible state again!!!!!!!!!

WE PAY YOU RIGHT, YOU GIVE AS SHIT. I'm very disappointed. The advertised speed and stability were all lies. I regretted that I had chose this PAIN IN THE ASS ISP.

I've been experiencing normal service for a while. We even managed to install a router and everything was fine until one day.. BAM. The internet disappeared. My disconnection disappeared and we were told it could be a lan card problem. We got a new lan card and sure enough, the internet returned. It was barely two months later when the same problem happened again. Once more, Smart told us it could be a LAN card problem and we ended up installing a new LAN card. The internet returned... but not as normal as it used to be. Two days after the new LAN card was installed, it disappeared again. We think this is impossible because, dammit, it's a brand new LAN card. So we call Smart and they tell us to disconnect the cord from the router and we do... So now, our router's wasting away and we're stuck with this HORRENDOUSLY SLOW net service. My downloads are fast, my torrents are fine...
But it takes me at least twenty tries to log in ANYWHERE or to access any page. Just now, it took me five refreshes to get to this comment screen. It took me twenty or so for one mediafire file and around the same number for a Youtube video. This can't be the LAN card's fault or the router's. No one else has access to the net here anymore except for the one on the PC.
They were bearable until this recent hiccup but now, it's just an INCONVENIENCE.

The first thing that we can do about Smart Bro, is to complain about their service directly to the NTC using website which is at ntc.gov.ph. If you sift through the links you can find a complaint form, I found it using the site map I think.

Read this recently while searching "SMART BRO IS FUCKING SLOW" on Google Search and I have to say that Smart Bro's fucking service is so fucking fucked up it makes me watch Youtube at 144 p which is not even remotely fucking enjoyable and was probably intended for people who live in the Sahara Desert. What the fucking hell? Even North Koreans can probably get more enjoyment out of their fucking censored internet than I do with this shit. All I ask is to be able to fucking read Wikipedia, Cracked.com, and watch/downFUCKINGLOAD the odd video or two with at FUCKING LEAST a consistent pace. I don't even watch peoplefuck. Is it too much to fucking ask of those cheapskate asswipes? Maggots eat my laptop, the only FUCKING thing I want to is at the FUCKING LEAST!! consistent internet. Is that too much to ask? I never wanted to be fucking rich or bed fucking Kim Kardashian, all I ask is that you give me the fucking service we fucking pay for.

I would love to see Smart Bro fold up after all their customers leave due to their cuntshitting terrible service. Then I'd switch networks and listen to the song that goes "CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON" on fucking Youtube in at least 360 FUCKING P, because I fucking can. Then I would dance with joy, and steal a Smart Bro tarpaulin from, I don't know, fucking Netopia I guess, and burn it while singing "CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON" and downloading one video for at least FIVE FUCKING MINUTES because I fucking can. Even shitworthy dial-up is better than Smart "FUCK ME IN MY ANAL RECESSES" Bro. Bloody fucking donkey dicks! I wouldn't fucking trust those sharks, those money make machines who think they're kings of the seas while wallowing in cesspools of pride. Fuck them all and their fucking bollocks!

I just lost an online game because of this stupid internet connection. My teammates were cursing me because they thought that I was fooling around. I have two subscriptions, one in the province and another one in Cavite. I tried to disconnect the one in the province since I am rarely staying there but they won't let me, instead they just lowered down the cost to 799. Smart is a brand so contrary to its name.

However, their service in our are is too bad that I can't concentrate in my gaming because the connection is inconsistent. Like, you have connection this time but after several minutes, the connection will be lost. FUCK! I dont mind having a slow download speed! All I want is a consistent connection and better ping! I hate SMart Bro now...so for those who want to avail, please think it PROPERLY

FUCK YOU SMART BRO!!!! I have been a subscriber for almost 6 years and just this year that was so fucking terrible that I have to go to the nearest store just to complain. When I got there, you can already feel the frustration of other people. I asked one of the employees if they got any complaints. She became hesitant, yes fucking hesitant to answer me. I would change directly to another broadband but because of the fucking contract that I signed(the speed was still ok by then). Right now, my energy is drained because I have to wake up 1am just to get a fast connection. Fucking Smart Bro. I have a friend right now who can't connect to the tower since July. What the fuck is that shit?!?! To all employees of Smart Bro who might be reading this, WRAP YOUR DICKS IN A QUEASADILLA AND SUCK MAH FUCKING DIIIIIICK!!!!
